Fool's Moon - Dark Moon Group

    6:00 pm-7:30 pm
    04/01/2022

How fun!  The April Dark Moon falls on April Fool’s Day.   A day we often associate with practical jokes and efforts to make people into fools in all manner of ways.  It kinda makes me paranoid.  But instead of making fools of people, what if we think about being Fools by choice.  Join me at the Hall around 6:00pm to hang out and I will start the activity at 6:30

The first card of the Tarot Major Arcana is “The Fool”.  This young person is so excited to get out into the world that they don’t even realize that they are about to walk off a cliff.  It’s about the courage to start something new, excitement, and that shot of unabashed faith in themselves that is so often characteristic of youth.  And it’s about giving it a little thought before you go.   We are all afraid to make changes in our lives.  But what if on the Dark Moon you put some real thought into something new that you could try.    Being in the darkness of this night can help you calm your mind and truly visualize and feel your change.   Sometimes we worry that we will fail or look foolish and sometimes this happens.  If you accept that you could end up looking foolish and still choose to proceed then you choose the right and possibility of becoming a fool in the pursuit of your dreams.  You can move ahead into the unknown, being willing to fail.

It’s been pretty sparse on attendance lately so I encourage everyone to come back.  I’ll be doing a short ritual at the beginning to focus our minds and then I’ll be leading a short guided meditation to get you thinking and feeling and aware enough to not walk off a cliff.   After that, I’m going to try to find some things that might be new to you – a food, a drink, an activity.  I am hoping I can find enough things so that everyone will be surprised – SURPRISE!, not a joke, just an April Fool’s excercise in being brave enough to be the “Fool” you choose to be.

    Intro to Energy Work

    5:30 pm-7:30 pm
    04/03/2022

Council will be starting a three part series on energy work. People talk about it but not everyone knows how to do it. That’s what this series is about.  Learning different ways to connect with energy, to feel it moving in you and what you can do with that energy once you find it.  We exchange energy with everything we touch, at the atomic level.  We will give you information and we will lead exercises to help you find that connection with energy. It’s pretty exciting once you find the best way for you to connect.  This first night, after some work, we will try to create, feel and pass energy balls, for those who want to.  During the other two sessions, in the future, we will explore other ways and practices to work with energy.

    Link to Zoom

This is an in person and Zoom meeting.  The Hall opens at 5:30, Zoom opens at 6:00pm, activities begin at 6:30.

If you want to join on Zoom, we will be in the Zoom room at 6 to go over the calendar of events and share in prayers/yahoos.  We will try to have it on the entire time but viewers may not always be able to see the physical movements.

Some things to remember… please park on Swallow, not in the cul-de-sac… masks are required for all indoor and crowded outdoor spaces… BYOM (bring your own meal) if you want to eat at the Hall between 530 and 6pm… please read the Code Of Conduct before your first visit to Covenant of the River… gifts to support this community are always welcome and can come in many forms like firewood, mead, monies, time and lighters… monetary donations can be made in the donation basket in the Hall or through PayPal on our website.

    Thank you so much!

Park Cleanup and Beltane Group Write

    5:00 pm-7:00 pm
    04/10/2022

Zoom will be available beginning around 6pm    Zoom Room

If you’ve never done a Park Cleanup – now’s the time to get involved.  It doesn’t take that long, the Park is beautiful, and you get to walk around talking with other Covenant folks.      We will gather at Landings Park at 3:30pm Please see this page for all the details:     Park Cleanup

The Park Cleanup will be done before the evening activities begin.  You can plan to go out to eat or back home until returning to the Hall between 5:30-6:00.  The evening activities will begin at 6:00pm

If you’ve never done a “group write” (and it’s been awhile) this is a fun way to feel involved in the planning of a Sabbat ritual without volunteering to do it yourself.  Everyone suggests ideas and together we decide what sounds good and who will do what as part of the ritual (you don’t have to do anything during the ritual if you don’t want to. )  Jean will help facilitate the process.    BELTANE!  This group write is for the exciting Sabbat of Beltane.  It’s been two years since we planted the Maypole in the Sanctuary and danced around it.  So you can bet that this activity will be part of the ritual.  Help us plan the rest!!

    Council Meeting

    7:00 pm-9:00 pm
    04/12/2022

Each month the Council, (Jean, Jordan and Chel), get together to schedule Covenant of the River events, write rituals, outline presentations and discuss general community business.

This is when we find out all the exciting new ideas that folks in the community have for us about things to do and rituals they want to share!  This community is not Council driven.  We are here to facilitate the things others in the community have ideas about, want to do, or want to help with.  You don’t have to volunteer to lead your idea, just share your idea.   SO – Email council before 7pm tonight so we can see what you have!  If you missed it, we will be doing this again next month so go ahead and send it and we will save it for then.

This is not an open meeting.  The Zoom room will not be open.  Please contact us during Office Hours  if you need to speak with one of us.
