Create Solar Crosses with Jean! Before Christianity, the Celts, Gaels, Native Americans and many other groups used the simplicity of a circle with a cross in the middle to represent many different aspects of their beliefs from directions, elements, and other things. This simple solar cross is often a part of the Midsummer/Litha celebration as well and that is right around the wheel of the year and coming fast. All craft materials are provided free of charge.

Arrive at 5:30 at River Hall (901 E Swallow) for socializing and POT LUCK time! Yes PotLuck dinner is back! If you are able and want to, please bring a dish to share. All dishes and utensils and water are available in the Hall. As dinner ends, the evening will start at 6:00 with announcement, yahoos, and prayer requests. THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN JOINING US (See Code of Conduct below)

Some things to remember… please park on Swallow, not in the cul-de-sac… masks are required for all indoor and crowded outdoor spaces. Please read the Code Of Conduct before your first visit to Covenant of the River… gifts to support this community are always welcome and can come in many forms like firewood, mead, monies, time and lighters… monetary donations can be made in the donation basket in the Hall or through PayPal on our website.

Dark Moon NEW

Join us tonight for our June Dark Moon gathering. This group is open to anyone, so stop by when you can. There won’t be a meeting in July so be sure to come tonight for your summer Dark Moon energy. We gather at 7pm for lighting candles casually in the Cauldron of Candles and conversation. We meet at the Hall at 901 E Swallow. Chel hangs around until 8:30 with people but will leave by 8 if no one shows up.
Previously Hel was listed as the topic of the evening. However, there will be no presentation and the evening may take on a different energy. If you know a lot about Hel, really like Hel, and were looking forward to that topic, I encourage you to attend and share what you know, we can all learn together. That kind of sharing would be perfect for the new format.
The Dark Moon Group is going to take a different feel tonight and in the future and it will be new so I’m not sure how it will go. It will be much more casual, more like Fireside with an open conversational tone without a “leader”, just a facilitator. We can talk about what we like about the group and what we don’t like and what we might want to do in August.
And/or we can burn massive amounts of candles and share our lives and laugh at the silly ways candles always seem to burn in the cauldron. It’s kind of like people. Alone, a candle burns with serious persistence in a set way. When candles get in a group they react to each other and become a lot more interesting. So will we.

Council Open Hours

From 7pm to 9pm Council will be in the Hall, hanging out, waiting to see whoever stops by. Have some questions? Need some face time? Never been here and you want to check out the space on an informal, less busy night? Open Hours is the place to be. Council wanted to find a time where we could be available for this casual time with whoever needs it so usually, on the first Friday of the month, the three of us are in the Hall waiting for YOU to stop by. There is nothing planned, no program or speaker, no ritual. You can stay for five minutes or stay the full two hours, whatever you need.
Please park on Swallow at 901 E Swallow and make your way around to the far side of the garage. Enter through the yellow door. We look forward to seeing you and to meeting new people!

Sanctuary Care Day

Join us in the morning for cooler weather! We will be starting at 9am and we will break for lunch at 1:00. Lunch items such as meat and meat substitutes will be provided, bring something to share if you can. Tools, gloves, and sunscreen as well as water are available or bring your own of any of these. This is that brief summer moment of regrouping from Festival before the Yard Sales begin.
The Sanctuary is truly a special place for rituals, Fireside, Sabbat celebrations and other special events. But like the farmers of old, we have carved it out of the wildland of a former backyard and we must constantly attend to the weeds, bushes, and other vegetation that wants to retake it from us. There is also indoor work available that requires less body intense work such as organizing, cleaning, and vacuuming so don’t think it’s all weeding out in the sun. Sure, it’s work. But we put ourselves and our energy into the space so that it can give back to us and we get to spend time with each other while we do it.
Join us for thirty minutes or stay the entire time. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Ruminant Litha and Full Moon

Please join Jean as she takes all the Ruminant folx through a gentle, contemplative ritual for Litha that will include Full Moon energy as well. Arrive at the Hall around 7pm and we will begin around 7:30. Ritual garb is encouraged but not required. Often the inspiration for a ruminant Sabbat arrives just before the ritual time. Jean may add additional information before hand or simply plan to come and contemplate the longest day of the year and what that might mean for you.
Ruminant: “Isn’t that a cow?” YES, it is, but skip to the next definition. Someone who is contemplative and meditative. The Ruminant Sabbat is designed for people who can be quiet and contemplative during the ritual.
On the Sabbats we always hold a family friendly celebration on the Sunday closest to the actual Sabbat date. There is ritual and celebration, cakes and ale and usually everyone is standing if they want to be. It’s energetic. The Ruminant Sabbat celebration is not on the Sabbat date and is designed to allow you to have a quieter, more contemplative time with the energy of the season and get in touch with what this Sabbat means to you personally.

Fireside with Jean

This event is open to anyone and will take place in the Sanctuary (hopefully) which is the outdoor space at River Hall. If the weather is unfriendly for humans we will still meet in the hall with candles and such but we will not be able to burn things
Jean will be holding space for folks to discuss life and faith, to work on rituals or to be supported in releasing things/people/behaviors that no longer serve you.
Fireside is a mostly casual gathering in the Sanctuary where we hold space for each other, enjoy respite around the sacred fire and reconnect with other Pagans and Pagan-friendly folx.
If you choose to burn something in the fire make sure it fits in a standard backyard fire pit, and is legal, safe, yours to burn.
This a great no pressure gathering for new folx. Come as you are, when you are able and leave when you need to.
Please park on Swallow and follow the sidewalk around to the far side of the garage. We might be in the Hall, beyond the yellow door but most likely we will be in the Sanctuary. Enter through the gate then follow the dirt and mulch path around the house and through the archway entry of the Sanctuary.

LITHA!

Join us this Sunday for our Family Friendly celebration of the Sabbat of Litha, also known as Midsummer and Summer Solstice. We will hold this at our regular 5:30 meeting time. The ritual and celebration is in the planning stages. More information may be added or just plan to come and celebrate the heart of summer. This will include a potluck and unless you hear differently, plan for the potluck to be at 5:30 and the ritual to begin between 6:15-30. Ritual garb is encouraged but not required.
Unlike most Sabbats, this evening will NOT include a Sumbl after the ritual.

Park Cleanup Plus Poetry!

Landings Park is off Boardwalk just north of Harmony. More information about the park is HERE.
This week, after we eat and clean up Landings Park, we will host some Poetry in the Park. Just us, whoever shows up! Everyone is welcome. Bring your favorite poem or many. Write a new poem to share with us with if you like! We might return to the shelter house or spread some blankets under some of the shady trees.
Arrive at 5:00 for the potluck in the Pavilion. Bring something to share if you can. After dinner we will walk around picking up trash which doesn’t take long and then we can start the poetry. You don’t have to say why your poem inspires you or why you picked it. Just read it or ask someone to read it for you.
Landings Park, off Boardwalk north of Harmony. Covenant of the River has been keeping it clean for well over 10 years. There are two signs there to tell others about our contribution. The walk is less than a mile and only takes less than an hour. We only pick up trash, no animal waste. Many hands make light work and it’s fun to talk as we go. Hands on environmentalism.
