To lessen my bias for my favorites, I have started using several different divination decks to locate our Dark Moon visitors. Sometimes I know them well. Sometimes I have never heard of them as is the case this month. Aeracura will join us.
There is a lot for me to learn since I have never heard of her before. I find it interesting that she is often shown in the decks to represent “Blossoming”. And here we are almost to mid-winter. Aeracura is also associated with the underworld, cemetaries and funerals. So maybe we are greeting yet another goddess who reminds us that endings are just begininngs. There have been hints of Persephone and even of Hera.
But because of the blossoming aspect (being perhaps a good way to make that new beginning) and because the world is dark enough right now, I choose to take the way she first came to me – Blossoming, so that we can have something brighter. More to come.
Oh yes, this IS the calendar page after all. If you’ve been before you know the drill. Come at 7pm to the Hall to talk and laugh and light the cauldron of candles. Then, around 7:30, I will tell you more about our guest and create a ritual with you. If you haven’t been, we are a small happy group sitting under blue light bulbs to learn something together when the moon is hiding her face and we are free of any lunar influence. We often find ourselves face to face with some pretty scary people and we face our fears together (should be much less scary this month). I actually think she looks like she belongs in December, blossoming or not.
