Stadah in the Park

10/20/2024 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm

This event will be held at Landings Park, off Boardwalk just north of Harmony.  This is normally when we make the switch to “winter hours” due to declining daylight.  For this month, we will arrive at 3:30pm our winter start time.  But it will be a new format.  Plan to come to the shelter house at the beginning, as usual.  Then we will probably move over into the grassy area west of the tennis courts for the activity.

We will begin the evening with the Stadah – a kind of body movement where you position yourself in the shape of Runes, generally in an upright position but if it is easier to do your movements on the ground horizontally, please bring a yoga mat, towel, or blanket to work on.  Intoning, chanting, whispering, or quiet meditation can accompany these movements.  Jean will explain the rune and what it often means as you begin each movement.

When we have completed our exercise/rune learning/ Stadah practice, we will return to the Shelter House for dinner.  Even if you don’t want to move your body, you may want to go ahead and come at the beginning and enjoy learning about this practice because when it’s over we will move into our potluck.  If you can bring something to share, we would appreciate it.  If not, please come and eat with us anyway as there is plenty.

After dinner, we will take our digestion on a stroll around the park for our monthly clean up of trash and litter.  It’s good for the park and we enjoy the talking, being together, and treasure hunt for weirdest trash.  We don’t pick up anything gross but you can sure point it out.

Thank you so much for helping us with the clean up. Our name is on the sign so it is a great reflection on Covenant of the River when the park is clean and folks see us picking up.
