Park Cleanup & Myth vs Legend Discussion

11/12/2017 3:30 pm
America/Denver
Location:
Landings Park - 4351 South Boardwalk Fort Collins, CO

How to find us: A mile east of College, 1/2 mile North of Harmony. We’ll meet under the pavilion by the playground.

Winter Park Clean-up! We meet at Landings Park early at 3:30pm to try to catch the most sunshine. Please bring work gloves, a water bottle and dress for the unpredictable Colorado weather. We will care for our adopted space and then head back to the Hall for the evening’s activity which begins with a potluck at 5:30pm.

You are welcome to join the Circle for either portion, and to show up early in between at the Hall as your day allows. If you need to leave a dish warming in the Hall while you are helping pick up trash, please let the Council know beforehand. We could even loan you a crock pot!

After the potluck, our discussion topic for the evening is Myth vs Legend. “A legend is presumed to have some basis in historical fact and tends to mention real people or events. Historical fact morphs into a legend when the truth has been exaggerated to the point that real people or events have taken on a romanticized, “larger than life” quality. In contrast, a myth is a type of symbolic storytelling that was never based on fact. Throughout time, myths have sought to explain difficult concepts (e.g., the origin of the universe) with the help of common story devices, such as personification and allegories.” -http://www.diffen.com/difference/Legend_vs_Myth

Monetary donations are always appreciated to offset general costs but gifts of books, incense and durable plastic drinking glasses are also welcome! Donations of time toward the upkeep and care of our Hall and Sanctuary are greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Council. Blessings!
