Covenant of the River

The Northern Colorado Covenant of the River, of Fort Collins, CO, has been an active part of the greater Pagan community for over 10 years. We are a family friendly, eclectic group who gathers to explore, exchange knowledge, learn about and further understand our own Spiritual Paths, while finding acceptance within the comfort of an open circle atmosphere. The Northern Colorado Covenant of the River is a place where all with an open heart and mind are welcome. Come out and meet local Pagans, Asatru, Buddhists, Druids, Wiccans, Witches and other practitioners on a Pagan Path. Our activities and topics vary from week to week to support our diversity and also to celebrate the Wheel of the Year. Join us to share ideas and lore, make friends, craft tools and other items, write and perform ritual, participate in lively discussions and to explore the rich and varied practices of the Pagan traditions. This website is a living work of love and will be updated as often as possible, so please check in often to see what we have planned.

Statues Ritual

I don’t know if you’re like me- I have a statue fetish, in the way that I absolutely love collecting statues and placing them around my house. It occurred to me one night as I was getting ready for bed that my statues all seemed to have distinct personalities and things that they provided me.

Tonight, I’m going to be talking a little bit about this idea, from the Hindus to gargoyles, and leading a ritual to welcome a spirit into any of your statues and/or fetishes that you’d like.

Clean-Up & Clean-Out

05/25/2008 4:00 pm
America/Denver

Greetings All! Last Sunday’s ritual was postponed because of the high winds. Living in Colorado, you have to respect the threat of fire and I feel it necessary to the soul cleansing ritual I want to lead. We took a vote at the gathering, and it was decided we would do it this week instead, hoping for calmer skies.

Before we can hold the Ritual, we need to give our park it’s monthly visit and loving. We will gather there to start, and pick up as much trash as we can find. This gift to the greater community is vital to our Covenant and a usually a really good time.

Weekend BBQ

05/24/2008 3:00 pm
America/Denver

As if we don’t do enough socializing… we are getting together this Saturday afternoon (weather permitting) for a good old fashioned afternoon of BBQ and games. Purely social, the only reason I am making it a an actual gathering is so that I can get a head count for food. Children and well behaved dogs are welcome to join us, but do keep in mind that since I don’t have kids, I don’t have toys. Please RSVP for all the bodies you will bring.

Ritual Self Cleansing

05/18/2008 5:30 pm
America/Denver

Greetings All! As the warm season approaches (slow but evident), many of us engage in some form of Spring cleaning. Some of us will throw open the doors and windows, dust every corner, and welcome the growing season in with loud music and environmentally friendly cleaning products. I am going to be taking a slightly different approach this evening. I want to try cleansing ourselves. No, we will not be taking a group shower or getting in the Poudre Creek. We will be using smoke and chant, maybe some dirt and a self-dedication to our respective paths/faiths.

Earth Mother Ritual

Happy Mothers’ Day everybody!

Today is a special day for honoring all mothers, for everything they provide us and everything they do for us. As we planned on the 4th, we’ll be holding a ritual to honor the Earth Mother in whatever form you see her as.

We’ll be meeting at 5:30 for food and gathering, and then at promptly 6:15, we’ll be heading out into the open space behind Jean’s house for the actual ritual, which will be as follows:

1. Welcoming the Elements (North Jean, East Jean, South Oski, West Laura)
2. Invocation of the Earth Mother (Jean)

Next week is Mother’s Day, a day to celebrate and honor all of our mothers. We send flowers, call her on the phone, and generally remind her that we love her and she’s a special person to us all.

Because we, as pagans, tend to believe in some form of a divine mother, we’re going to be gathering tonight to plan out a ritual for honor the sacred Earth Mother.

Come prepared to share ways that you honor the Mother, your beliefs about the Mother, and ideas for a ritual that will be performed next week.

Beltaine Ritual

Sorry about the late posting on this; my brain has been scattered!

This year for Beltaine, we’re going to do a semi-untraditional ritual. Beltaine traditionally celebrates fertility in everything around us and ourselves, but as I can’t think of anybody off the top of my head in the group who is actively looking for that blessing from the gods, I decided it would be inappropriate to ask for it and honor it.
